Ring Ring...Google Calling - Click to Call Mobile Ads from Google
One of the inherent issues with digital marketing is that many end users still prefer to pick up the phone to contact a company.
While this is not necessarily a bad thing, the problem resides in the tracking and reporting of customers who dial instead of clicking and with so many end users utilising mobile technology to search the web this problem is only going to increase.
Click to call mobile ads from Google is a new feature within Google AdWords that is set to offer a simple solution to reporting on these conversions whilst simplifying the process of contact for customers.
Click to call allows AdWords users to implement a phone number within their Pay Per Click ads, so that when a user is presented with your advert when surfing using a mobile phone with full internet browser, they can simply click on the number shown (see below).

When the user clicks on the phone number this is measured through your Google AdWords campaign. This means that not only have you simplified the process of the user contacting you by phone, but also reduced the lack of measurability when it comes to phone contact.
This is by no means perfect as there are still issues with regard to quality metrics related to phone contact over online conversion, this is still an excellent addition as mobile internet browsing is in the acendancy.
Look out for a post coming soon on setting up Click to call ads within your AdWords campaigns.
